Verse 2 G In trials and tribulations, C D Do we not do the same: D7 Looking at our errors, G Em Despairing in our blame? G How often do we wallow, Am Abandoning all hope – Am G As though on our own – D G With burden we could cope. Verse 3 G If Peter lost all hope when C D Our Lord exposed his sin, D7 Luke would not record G Em The three thousand he would win. G If Paul considered nothing Am But his murderous past, Am G Would his inspired letters D G To this generation last? Verse 4 G Moses’ life was evil, C D Every sin he did commit, D7 But from this desert bandit, G Em A shining lamp was lit. G If Mary, Egypt’s harlot, Am Had not tried to win his grace, Am G Would she now be in heaven – D G Would she have won the race? Verse 5 G Our Lord set an example, C D Compelled, we do the same: D7 Fight, strive, persevere and G Em On us will be no blame. G If our loving Saviour Am Had not endured all pain, Am G Would Redemption and Salvation D G Ever be our gain? Verse 6 G I come now with hope C D To Thy Tomb O Lord, D7 Knowing that in Truth, G Em Above the earth Thou soared, G I come now with joy, Am I come expecting life; Am G Knowing that through Thee D C I can endure all strife.
