The Habitats Song

	  		D G D
I am an explorer of this beautiful Earth
         Bm G A
From the jungle to the polar caps
             G D A
There are so many different homes for living
D Bm G D
Things, and we call them habitats
D
A forest is made up of trees and animals
G
Oxygen and water are the norm
A
Temperate means it goes through different
Bm E
Seasons
        G A D
And tropical means it's very wet and warm
   G D A D
A forest is a home for living things
         Bm G D
And it's one of the habitats
G A D
Grasslands can have many titles
D G A D
Pampas, prairies, savannas, or steppes
       G A Bm E
And just like forests, they can be
G A D
Tropical or temperate
   G D A D
A grassland is a home for living things

         Bm G D
And it's one of the habitats
D G D G D
Freshwater can be a marsh or river
   G D A D A
A wetland, a swamp, or a lake
       G D G D
And freshwater can be ideal
       G A D A D
For insects, for beavers and snakes
G D A D
Freshwater is a home for living things
        Bm G D
And it's one of the habitats
D
The poles include the arctic and antarctic
G A D
Both are very dry and cold
       G D G D
And animals need blubber or hibernation
        E A D
If they want to live around the poles
        G D A D
A polar biome is a home for living things
            Bm G D
And it's one of the habitats
     A D G
A desert's dry and doesn't have much water
            A G D
Some species live by storing it inside
     A D
Some hide beneath the sand when it gets
G
Hotter
       A G D
And come out in the open when it's night

  G D A D
A desert is a home for living things
         Bm G D
And it's one of the habitats
E Bm
The ocean is vast, and it's all saltwater
        A D
With jellyfish, whales, and sharks
         E Bm
From the coral reef in the shallow parts
        G D
To the deep, where it's always dark
       G D A Bm
The ocean is a home for living things
         G D A E
There are even more homes for living things
      G D A D
So many different homes for living things
      Bm G D G D A D
And we call them habitats
