Oh, the boll weevil is a little black bug, comes from Mexico they say. 

Came all the way to Texas, came a lookin? for a place to stay.

Well, the next thing I knew, that little black bug crawled around without a care. 

He was mighty well contented, ?case he had his family there.

and the weevil said if you do it, my pals will come and multiply.

When the merchants came round to buy the cotton crop, I didn?t have a bale to sell. 

I couldn?t pay the mortgage, and heavily in debt I fell.
