Cherry Wine (live)

Written by Andrew Hozier-Byrne

	  		Default
No Capo is good, so is

Capo on 1

Capo on 2

Capo on 3
depending on your voice

     G C
Her eyes and words are so icy, oh, but she burns
      Am G
Like rum on a fire
 G
Hot and fast and angry as she can be
C Am G
I walk my days on a wire

 C Cmaj7 C Cmaj7
It looks ugly, but it's clean
     C Am G
Oh mamma, don't fuss over me

G C G
The way she tells me I'm hers and she is mine
G C G
Open hand or closed fist would be fine
      C Am C Am G
But blood is rare and sweet as cherry wine

  G C
Calls of guilty thrown at me all while she stains
      Am G
The sheets of some other
  G C
Thrown at me so powerfully just like she throws
          Am G
With the arm of her brother

C Cmaj7 C Cmaj7
   But I want it, it's a crime
C Cmaj7 Am G
That she's not around most of the time

G C G
The way she tells me I'm hers and she is mine
G C G
Open hand or closed fist would be fine
      C Am C Am G
But blood is rare and sweet as cherry wine

Guitar Solo

     G C
Her fight and fury's fiery, oh, but she loves
       Am G
Like sleep to the freezing
 G C
Sweet and right and merciful, I'm all but washed
        Am G
In the tide of her breathing

C Cmaj7 C Cmaj7
And it's worth it, it's divine
C Am G
I have this some of the time

G C G
The way she tells me I'm hers and she is mine
G C G
Open hand or closed fist would be fine
      C Am C Am
But blood is rare and sweet as cherry wine

End on G

*****P.S.*****
A trick I have learned is to occasionally add your fourth finger to the third fret of the A string when playing
a G chord, to add a higher pitch on some words, for example in the first line you may add it when playing
"words" and then again on "oh, but". If this is confusing just ignore it! Have fun! (:
