Intermediate - Learning How To Play Drums P V (ver. 2)

This lesson is slightly more intresting than the last. This is still coordination,
but works with the hands coordination istead of drums. Here you have to play
constantly using your hands going in the right, left, right, left, etc. motion.
Do not move on if you are using the same hand twice or not keeping on beat. If you
have a metronome, this is a great time to use it.

PART VI
basic coordination

the capital R means hit bass drum (with Right foot)
the l and r mean hit drum with that hand

This part is pretty lame, so it shouldnt take more than a minute to get

R-r

Just keep doing that over and over (hit bass and any drum on your set. Dont hit the
same drum every time though, and make it sound a little descent other than making
noise)

r-R

Same thing basically

R-l

now you just use your left hand

l-R

...
That was the flows of two. This next is the flows of 3, the most common of the flows.
This is said to be John Bonhan\'s favorite flow

r l R

Now your just hitting two drums and the bass. Remember to try not to just make noise
and have your beat \'tell a story\' if you knwo what i mean by that. If you want to
know were you are throug hthe beat, hit two drums, then the snare drum twice, then
two drums, and so on, with the bass inbetween of course.

R l r

Now if i flipped it around anymore, it would still be the same thing, so ill just go
to the flows of four

r l r R

R r l r

You get the story here right? Remember to hit different drums all the time, and not
just make noise. And always use the hand it says to do, or you shouldnt move on (and
if you arnt staing on time)
heres the last of the Coordination, is the ostinato Coordination your doing the
flow of four here and hitting the bass during your beat

r l r l r l r l r l r l r l r l
R R R R

the hands must always be moving in the r l r l without stopping. Do not of course,
stop when you hit the bass, or make a beat with the hands and just hit the bass
when it says. have the bass go with the rhythm. A problem ive seen is while
people hit the drums, they think the hands are making the entire beat and try to
hit the bass when they need, when the bass is setting the beat and timing and the
hands are go to it.
My next lesson wont be as boring, since youll be told what drums to hit to make it
sound good, while here youre hitting any drum and expected to make it sound good.
The next part will be used more often too. Rate this according to how much it helped
