Little Moses

	  		          A             E             A 
    Away by the river so clear, 
                               E                   A 
    the ladies were winding their way, 
               E 
    and Pharaoh's little daughter stepped down in the water, 
          A                  E              A 
    to bathe in the cool of the day. 

  A 
Before it was dark, she opened the ark, 
         E                                           A 
and found the sweet infant was there.    (2x) 

                A               E               A 
    And away by the waters so blue, 
                            E                A 
    the infant was lonely and sad. 
             E 
    She took him in pity and thought him so pretty, 
                 A               E             A 
    and it made little Moses so glad. 

  A 
She called him her own, her beautiful son, 
         E                                      A 
and sent for a nurse that was near.     (2x) 

                A             E             A 
    And away by the river so clear 
                                  E           A 
    they carried the beautiful child, 
               E 
    to his own tender mother, his sister and brother, 
              A                    E                  A 
    little Moses looked happy and smiled, 

         A 
His mother so good, done all that she could 
      E                                          A 
to rear him and teach him with care.    (2x) 

                A               E                  A 
    And away by the sea that was red, 
                                E               A 
    little Moses, the servant of God, 
             E 
    while in Him confided, the sea was divided, 
         A                 E             A 
    as upwards he lifted his rod. 

         A 
The Jews safely crossed while Pharaoh's host 
          E                                       A 
was drowned in the waters and lost.    (2x) 

                A               E               A 
    And away on a mountain so high, 
                                E                A 
    the last one that ever might see, 
              E 
    while in Him victorious, his hope was most glorious, 
               A                  E               A 
    he'd soon oe'r the Jordan be free. 

                 A 
When his labor did cease, he departed in peace, 
        E                                     A 
and rested in the Heavens above.     (2x)
