Written by James McMurtry

GIGANTIC THANK YOU TO FISHSTIK!!! He helped a lot figuring out the chords to this
absolutely beautiful James McMurtry song! This song appears on McMurtry's 1995
album "Where'd You Hide The Body" and is one of my favorite songs he's ever recorded.

FishStik's original notation:

| A | represents one bar (four beats)
| A - B - C - D | each chord gets one beat

Intro: | F# | C#/F | F# | C#/F |
Verse: | F# | F# +1 extra beat | C# | C# | C# +1 extra beat | F# |
Chorus: | B | C# | F# - F# - B - Bbm | C# | C# | B | C# | back to Intro

The placement of the chords might not be 100% but this is the ONLY chord/lyric for
this song (which is a damn shame that the tune isn't more well known). Definitely
youtube the song for help :D

F# C#/F F# C#/F

F#
Your mother used to take the cure
                                                 C#
She kept plastic on the furniture in the living room
You used to tell your friends
                                              F#
If you never saw that place again it's be too soon

But your college beau didn't seem so bad
                                                           C#
You brought him home to Mom and Dad like you're 'sposed to do
But he wouldn't account for himself
                                                             F#
And he got along better with the hired help than he did with you

B C#
No big loss, I don't suppose
F# B
Brush it away like a fly off a rose
Bbm C#
We're all bound to miss a time or two
Iolanthe

(Intro)

F#
Your father always held his ground
                                                  C#
He never liked you hanging round with the lesser kind
He suffered not the weak
                                              F#
And he was never loath to speak his twisted mind

He liked to watch an evening pass
                                                             C#
Clinking the ice in his bourbon glass while you played your scales
With eyes that burned right through
                                               F#
He would say he always knew you were bound to fail

B C#
Shake it off and let it go
F# B
Brush it away till the light it shows
Bbm C#
We can't help what came before
Iolanthe

      B C#
Well who's that standing there?
F# B
Whatcha been doing lately?
     Bbm C#
Your clothes not long outta style
B C#
You gave us all quite a scare
         F# B
But the years were hardly wasted
Bbm C#
Only missing for a while
B C#
Don't sweat the losses, let em go
F# B
Toss em all out where the tall grass grows
Bbm C#
We're all bound to get our share
Iolanthe
